Poor quality alcohol. Alcohol purification. Poisoning with ammonia

Mikhail Ostashevsky

For the "First Person" competition

When I was in my third year at military school, one of the chemical laboratories was equipped with Polish equipment. There were beautiful glass shelves along the walls, and for added importance, bottles with various reagents were placed on these shelves. For completely complete beauty.

During laboratory classes, I noticed that next to the table where I was sitting with my best friend Slavik Mamaev, there was a liter bottle on the shelf with the inscription “Phenolphthalein” on the label. I knew that phenolphthalein comes in an alcohol solution while still working as a laboratory assistant at a research institute. He took the bottle off the shelf, popped the cap and took a sniff. And so it was. Then I handed the bottle to Slavik and offered to smell it too.

- We're taking it! – Slavik said inspiredly, sniffing the alcohol aroma and blissfully rolling his eyes.

- First of all, we can’t take the whole bottle. Laboratory assistants or a teacher can check the classroom after class and, finding an empty space on the shelf, make a fuss. Secondly, phenolphthalein is very insidious in its effect on the body.

– Harmful, or what?

- Well, how do you say it, Slavik? It may not be harmful. Maybe even useful to someone. Pharmacies sell it as medicine.

“Then we’ll definitely pick it up!” Let's heal at the same time! Let's combine business with pleasure!

After my friend inhaled the desired aroma, his stomach began to work instead of his brains. Slavik really wanted to drink. And I couldn’t think about anything else.

– Do you know the medical name of phenolphthalein?

- No! Tell!

- Purgen!

Judging by the reaction to what I said, Slavik was clearly familiar with this word. He immediately sank.

– You, Vyacheslav Sergeevich, don’t oxidize right away. Don't put extra strain on your heart. We'll do it smart. During the break, I’ll ask the lab assistants for an empty bottle, we’ll pour out the lion’s share for ourselves and test it on someone else. If everything goes well, we’ll drink tomorrow!

During the break, I took an empty half-liter bottle from the girls and filled it to capacity with the desired liquid.

– Who will we test it on? – Slavik asked impatiently.

- Don't rush. Let's try it on Grandfather. Only a little later. Closer to dinner.

“Grandfather” was the name of a cadet named Nevrov. He was extremely lazy, and his normal body position was recumbent. Less often sitting, but always leaning against something.

Before dinner, I began pouring liquid into a metal soldier's mug. For testing.

– Where are you pouring so much?! A little bit is enough for him! Leave us more! – Slavik was indignant.

- Don't squeeze! You have to test it thoroughly! What if the effect depends on the dose?! What if he gets nothing for a little bit, and then we, from the normal amount, will then thunder into “rocket men” into a separate ward of our medical unit!

“Rocketmen” were the name given to those at the school who had an upset stomach. A shameful smear was taken from them and they were placed in a separate ward for two weeks. Under lock and key. Until the results of the analysis become known. And the food was extremely poor. They could not eat most of the prepared food.

I poured almost half the mug, and then took some into my mouth and spat it out. He forced Slavik to do the same. We hid the mug with the liquid on the stairs near the attic door. And we went to look for Grandfather. And they found it right away. No problem. Lying like a log on his bed. Where else could he be?

I called the subject aside and asked:

- Grandfather! Do we smell anything?

Then he breathed on him.

- Uh, guys! You've had a drink somewhere! – Nevrov said very sadly.

- Don't be sour! We left it for you!

Having understood the meaning of what I said, Grandfather came into a very excited state. He began to poke senselessly in all directions until we directed him, like a torpedo, in the right direction.

On the staircase, I handed the tester a mug and warned that it was not vodka, but pure alcohol. Seeing the amount of liquid, Grandfather became even more excited.

- Well, guys...! I will never tell you this...! I tell you everything...!

Nevrov took the mug in his hand and, once again assessing the amount of liquid, asked hopefully:

- How about a snack...?

“Maybe you should also bring the girl here later?” You'll smell it with your sleeve! You're not at the Philharmonic!

The advice was sound. The lazy grandfather washed his uniform extremely rarely and his sleeves were odorous. What about the sleeves! All the clothes! From top to bottom. Rolling his eyes, he drank the contents in one gulp and noisily began to inhale the familiar smell of his unwashed body. Right from under your mouse.

We returned to the company. After dinner, Grandfather was under our constant and close attention. Apart from the fact that he was quite drunk, nothing happened to him. Nevrov sat in Lenin’s room, leaning against the wall and quietly muttering something under his breath, giggling.

- He's amusing himself, you bastard! – Slavik said indignantly. – And nothing bad happens to him! On the contrary, he feels good now! Unlike us! It would be better to drink it yourself!

– We’ll have a drink tomorrow! Where are you going in such a hurry?

Until lights out, we carefully but unobtrusively watched Grandfather. And everything was fine with him. Slavik, remembering the amount Nevrov drank, sighed sadly.

In the morning, our deputy platoon commander, my friend’s namesake Slavik Mayorov, began counting those lined up for exercise.

- One, two, three, four,..., twenty-three! One, two, three, four, ..., twenty-three! Squad leaders! Who's missing?

- Nevrova!

- Well, Grandfather! Well, net! In the evening you will run ten kilometers around the stadium!

The platoon walked towards the exit and Mayorov continued to be indignant.

- Slavik! Who are you looking for? – asked the orderly.

- Nevrov gets sick from exercise!

- Yes, he’s in the toilet. Just like he sat down on his asshole at four in the morning, he still can’t get off.

Together with the platoon commander, Mamai and I rushed to the toilet. Look at the work of your hands.

Grandfather was sitting on his glasses and reading a newspaper. To prevent his legs from getting numb, he hooked his belt to the wall of the toilet and held on to it like a passenger on an ancient tram.

- Grandfather! Let's exercise!

- I can’t Slavik! It carries me! Ate something indecent at dinner!

“You see,” I later said to a friend, “you kept saying, “Let’s have a drink!” Let’s have a drink!”, but the alcohol turned out to be of poor quality! Not drinkable!

Fake alcohol may contain life-threatening substances in varying proportions. In order not to pay with your health, when choosing alcohol, use several rules from Rospotrebnadzor.

What to look for so as not to buy a fake

1. Place of purchase

No dubious stalls or markets, much less buying from hand or online. The store must be located in a building that is connected to the land plot, that is, kiosks and other temporary buildings - not immediately.

The store must also have a license to retail alcohol. This document can be found in the sales area at the information stand. If there is no license, look for the store in the list of licensees on the website of the Unified Social Portal of the Alcohol Market.

2. Price

Minimum prices for the sale of strong drinks - vodka, brandy, cognac and other alcohol with a strength above 28% are set by the state Order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation dated April 4, 2017 No. 57n “On introducing amendments to the order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation dated May 11, 2016 No. 58n “On establishing prices not lower than which purchases (except for imports) and supplies (except for exports) are carried out ) and retail sale of alcoholic beverages with a strength of over 28 percent". This means that the price for half a liter of vodka or alcoholic beverages simply cannot be less than 205 rubles, and the same volume of cognac will not be sold for less than 371 rubles.

It is also useful to look at the average price for a bottle of a particular brand of drink. This can be done, for example, on the website of the Bristol retail chain or through the Edadil service. If you see a crazy discount on a product, you should think about its quality.

3. Bottle appearance

If the counterfeit manufacturers made the bottles themselves, they may be very different from the original ones. For example, their shoulder shape may be smoothed out, while the real one will have clear edges.

To avoid mistakes, before purchasing, go to the sites listed above and check what the original bottle looks like, and then compare the photo with the product in the store. Also check the raised inscriptions on the sides of the bottle and the bottom. On fakes they may be blurry and unreadable or absent altogether.

If the counterfeit supplier does not produce bottles, but buys used original ones, you can distinguish the counterfeit by the cork and film on the neck.

In original bottles, the film is perfectly stretched, without folds or protrusions, the inscriptions on it are clearly readable and located evenly. If there are any defects on the film, connecting element or cover, such as uneven edges or bulges, this is a reason to be wary.

The cap on the bottle should not turn. Same thing with the safety ring: if it spins with the cap instead of breaking, leave the bottle in the store.

4. Label information

First of all, check whether the label is glued evenly and that there are no tears or wrinkles. If everything is clear, look at the information. The label must indicate Recommendations from Rospotrebnadzor for purchasing alcoholic beverages following:

  • Product name.
  • Volume and strength in percentage.
  • Compound.
  • Mass concentration of sugar, if any.
  • Country of origin and location of production.
  • Information about contraindications and harms of use.
  • Expiration date, if any.
  • The bottling date is on the label on either side, on the bottle itself or on the cap on the neck.

If you buy, the Russian back label must contain all the listed information that matches the front one.

5. Excise stamp

The excise stamp is printed on special paper with colored fibers; all numbers and codes on it are clear, clearly visible and easy to read. The stamp must be applied absolutely evenly.

You can check the brand through the Anti-Counterfeit Alko application from the Unified Social Portal of the Alcohol Market. Download it and use it directly in the store.

How to recognize a fake if you've already opened the bottle

The last line of testing is the quality of the product itself. There are some signs by which you can identify low-quality alcohol, but if you do not have experience in tasting, the risk of error is very high.

By appearance

Fake alcohol can be identified visually. Strong drinks must be homogeneous. If the liquid in the bottle separates, this should alert you.

As for drips on the walls of the glass, this occurs in wines and cognacs and has nothing to do with the quality of the drink. These “cognac legs,” as they are also called, indicate the density of the drink and depend on the percentage of alcohol, the amount of residual sugar in the wines and aging in barrel or on the lees.

The color of the wine does not indicate a fake: it depends on the grape varieties and production technology.

By smell

It is quite difficult to identify counterfeit wine by smell. Sergei says that “cork disease” occurs in some bottles. The process of processing the bark to make a cork stopper can create a chemical compound that gets inside the bottle and spoils the drink.

Sergey Popov

If the base of the cork that touches the wine has the aroma of wet cardboard, rotten wood, or wet autumn leaves, the wine will not be enjoyable. However, this is a natural defect and it is difficult to get poisoned from such a drink.

Other wine aromas, even not very pleasant ones, cannot serve as a sign of counterfeit.

Sergey Popov

The wine can smell the aroma of gasoline or burnt rubber - this is a characteristic of the Riesling variety from some countries. And dry wine from the Gewürztraminer or Torrontes varieties often has notes of rose, apricot, peony, nutmeg and other shades. And this does not mean that flavorings were added to the wine.

If you don’t like the aroma of wine, Sergey advises finding the characteristics of the variety on the Internet. Maybe that's what it's supposed to smell like.

To understand the aroma of strong alcohol, you can rub it in your palms: the alcohol will evaporate, leaving notes of the drink itself. If the smell is chemical, this should alert you. But do not confuse extraneous aromas with the smell of alcohol - this is a natural component of the drink and does not indicate a fake.

To taste

Sergey claims that it will be difficult for an ordinary consumer to distinguish a fake from an original.

Sergey Popov

If you add a little more caramel color to the same cognac - this is caramel, it is allowed to be added to cognac and whiskey in certain quantities - then this will improve not only the color, but also the taste. It’s like with tea: when it is with sugar, it seems “tasty”, since a person does not feel bitterness, viscosity, or astringency. And if he drinks it without sugar, the astringency may cause rejection.

Sergei explains that a person can only notice a fake if he has some tasting experience. For example, if you are used to drinking one brand of cognac all the time, and then instead of your favorite drink you get a counterfeit.

But at the same time, a drink from another brand can also cause rejection: the taste will seem unpleasant. And this does not mean at all that the other cognac is fake and of poor quality, it is simply new to a person.

Thus, only a professional can definitely identify a fake by color, smell and taste. However, it is worth paying for expensive alcohol, if only because you are not at such a high risk of poisoning.

To create counterfeit drinks, low-quality ethyl alcohol with a high content of fusel oils and aldehydes is used, which will reward you with a headache and a wild hangover. But even this is not the worst thing. It is much worse if the drink contains a high content of methyl alcohol.

How dangerous is methyl alcohol and can it be recognized?

Methyl alcohol Diagnosis of methyl alcohol poisoning: possibilities and prospects- this is a toxic substance, if poisoned, you can partially or completely lose vision due to irreversible atrophy of the optic nerve, develop pneumonia, acute liver or kidney failure. In the worst case, you die on the first or second day after drinking the libation.

Only 5–10 ml of a 40% methanol solution is enough for poisoning, and 15–30 ml for death.

Despite statements on the Internet, it is almost impossible to distinguish methyl alcohol from ethyl alcohol at home. So, you can often hear that when you ignite a drink with methanol, the flame will have a green tint. However, in one YouTube video, this method gave absolutely no results.

However, there is not a single real confirmation that this or other methods actually work.

How to understand that you have been poisoned with methyl alcohol and what to do

Symptoms of poisoning may appear between 40 minutes and 72 hours after ingesting methyl alcohol.

With a mild degree of poisoning, they can easily be confused with normal intoxication: intoxication is replaced by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, sometimes fog before the eyes or flashing spots. Dizziness, weakness, depression of consciousness, and rapid heartbeat may be present.

In cases of moderate severity, vision becomes progressively worse over several days until it completely disappears. Severe cases are characterized by acute abdominal pain, dilated pupils, severe agitation, convulsions with loss of consciousness, respiratory and cardiac problems.

It is better not to assess your condition on your own and if you experience abdominal pain or visual disturbances, immediately call an ambulance.

The best advice you can give about alcohol is simply: “Don't drink at all!” - and at the same time impossible. There are only a few teetotalers in our society, and everyone else at least sometimes turns up in the wine and vodka department. Therefore, the next good “alcohol” advice will be more realistic: “Drink in moderation and only high-quality alcohol.”

Even vintage cognac, expensive Cuban rum and wine aged in French cellars cannot be called healthy drinks, but still the harm associated with their use is just dust compared to the harm of cheap fruit and berry “wines”, all kinds of “mumbles”, moonshine and especially surrogates. There are several varieties of such drinks - and each type is harmful in its own way:

Fruit and berry “wines” (popularly: “ink”)– very common and widely used. There is nothing natural about them; “ink” is a mixture of alcohol, sugar, flavorings and dyes, and sometimes low-quality fruit and berry syrup. Such drinks not only hit the liver harder than high-quality alcohol, but also worsen the hangover syndrome, cause accelerated addiction and have a very bad effect on the brain and the nervous system in general.

Penny liqueurs and other “chemical mixtures”- drinks that don't even pretend to be wine or anything equally natural. These are liqueurs, brandy and sangria, which are 100% “chemicals” and alcohol. You can recognize them by their color, which is too bright to be at least a little natural, by their strong and unnatural smell (strawberry, chocolate, cherry), and by their very sweet taste. As in the case of supposedly wine, these drinks are characterized by problems with the digestive system, metabolic processes, strongly and quickly increase blood sugar levels, and destroy the nervous system. And all this is in addition to the natural damage caused to the body by alcohol.

Moonshine and other “homemade” drinks– are one of the most common causes of alcohol poisoning. Besides the fact that such drinks are very strong (their goal is obvious: to get drunk as quickly as possible), they are made without any technology, which means, as God pleases. At best, a person will suffer a severe hangover, at worst, no less severe poisoning. Foreign impurities have a side effect on all internal human organs.

Alcohol surrogates- “outcasts” even in the most unassuming “alcohol society.” All kinds of alcohol-containing lotions, colognes, medicines, technical fluids. Absolutely everything in such substances has a destructive effect on the human body. For example, ethylene glycol, which is part of brake fluid, breaks down into toxic acids in the body and with an 80% probability causes serious poisoning. Dichloroethane, which is part of solvents, can kill even with very little use. Even seemingly harmless components of cosmetic and medicinal alcohol-containing preparations can severely irritate the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, causing severe pain.

The effects of low-quality alcohol on the body

When drinking any type of low-quality alcohol the impact can be expressed in three different effects:

Instant poisoning. As they say, no comments. Most often caused by the use of alcohol substitutes or moonshine, counterfeit alcohol, but the cause can also be excessive consumption of regular strong alcohol.

Gradual poisoning. Permanent and frequent use alcohol-containing substances, which contain toxic substances even in low concentrations, cause the effect of gradual poisoning. As a result, poisoning occurs without an obvious reason and is caused by a final excess of the dose of the toxic substance.

Accumulation of destructive effects. The difference between this effect and the previous one is that its final result is not poisoning, but the development of serious diseases. If a person drinks “babbler” frequently and in large quantities for several years, it usually ends in a hospital bed - with a diagnosis that greatly shortens the person’s life.

How to recognize low-quality alcohol?

Most of those who regularly drink low-quality alcohol have no illusions about the contents of the bottle, but in some cases, people who care about their health may encounter “alcohol poisoning.” To avoid this, you need to be able to identify low-quality alcohol. You should be wary of the following characteristics of the drink:
  • Very low price. An alcoholic drink has a certain cost, and if the final price is very low, this means that the manufacturer has saved a lot. On what? Made with natural ingredients and high-quality alcohol.
  • Suspicious bottle. Handicraft production can give itself away with a crookedly designed or pasted label, an unformatted stopper, etc.
  • The presence of sediment and other suspicious inclusions “in the light”. If the drink is clear, shake the bottle and carefully hold the liquid up to the light. There should be no sediment, no floating flakes, no grains, no foam.
  • Strong unpleasant odor– good orientation; This is precisely what synthetic harmful components in alcohol often reveal themselves to be.

Surely you have heard about situations where someone you know was poisoned by “burnt” alcohol. And if you yourself have never found yourself in such trouble, then know: you are very lucky. Because today, unfortunately, low-quality alcohol can be found in many stores, restaurants and bars, hotels...

How can you protect yourself from falling into this terrible trap? The main thing is just to be attentive and careful. And follow the important rules, which we will discuss below.

Firstly, forget about small stalls, dubious shops and, especially, those who sell alcohol “from hand”. If you purchase alcoholic beverages in such conditions, you are guaranteed to be poisoned by low-quality alcohol. To protect yourself and your friends, purchase alcohol from large retail chains with a name. There the possibility of running into a fake is excluded. And if the alcohol suddenly turns out to be “scorched,” then you can easily present this to the management of the network, and, if necessary, sue. Pay attention to all products in chain stores before purchasing alcohol there. If you come across expired products or products with expiring dates, if fruits and vegetables are stale, and bread is hard, then it is better not to look at alcohol in such a supermarket. Choose another chain with a good reputation for purchasing alcohol.

Also, in any store, pay attention to whether the cashier asks for passports from people buying alcohol. Even if the buyers do not look like minors at all, compliance with this rule says a lot about the principles of the network’s employees.

The next point that is important to pay attention to is the price of the bottle. You should know the average cost of the drink you intend to purchase. If the price of this drink in a store is significantly lower than usual, then this is a reason not to be happy, but to be wary. Nobody will cut the price just like that. This means the matter is unclean.

Besides the price, good way distinguish a fake from an original - the features of the bottle. Manufacturers of well-known alcoholic beverages always pay special attention to design. Study the manufacturer’s website and remember what makes the bottle with the drink that interests you unique. The material of the cap, the shape of the neck, the shape of the bottle itself, inscriptions, images, carvings and relief - all this is extremely important and should not escape your sight. Also carefully study the label, its design and all the data indicated on it.

As for those drinks that are initially suspiciously inexpensive, they should not interest you. By definition, good alcohol cannot be cheap. The lower the cost of the drink, the higher the risk of poisoning. Therefore, if you decide to harm your health with alcohol, then at least do not skimp on its quality. Avoid the risk of poisoning from low-quality alcohol.

Also remember the features that distinguish high-quality strong alcohol. They can be seen if the bottle of alcohol is transparent. Thus, the peculiarity of cognac is that when the bottle is turned over, it leaves oily streaks on the glass. In the case of whiskey, the situation is similar. But here it is important to remember that this is a transparent drink. The presence of flakes or sediment in the bottle is excluded. As with vodka: it should also not leave flakes.

Another way to protect yourself and your loved ones, and perhaps the most important and decisive way, is to carefully study the excise stamp. It is printed on paper with multi-colored fibers, and special numbers and codes are applied to it. Each number and letter must be clear and readable. If necessary, you should be able to easily rewrite all the data indicated on the stamp.

After rewriting the data, you can check the alcohol for quality. To do this, open the website of the Unified Social Portal of the Alcohol Market and check the brand using public control. Enter all the data from the brand into a special field on the website and check the brand for compliance with the product.

However, the surest way to rid yourself of all the risks associated with “burnt” alcohol is, of course, simply not to drink alcohol. Then you definitely won’t encounter such a disaster as poisoning with low-quality alcohol, the symptoms of which are so terrible that you wouldn’t even wish your enemy to go through it.

Serious alcohol poisoning can cause enormous damage to a person's health. The risk of death cannot be excluded either.

Before you go to the store, even the most trusted one, for another bottle of alcohol, just think that with every sip you are spoiling your well-being and poisoning your body. If the alcohol is of high quality and is drunk in moderation, then the damage to health is quite low. If alcohol is consumed without moderation, and even more so if the alcohol is of poor quality, then expect trouble. You can be sure that your body can do everything, but your body may think differently...

If poisoning from “burnt” alcohol has already occurred, then do not try to solve the problem yourself: immediately call a specialized medical clinic, such as “Mozhaika 10”, and call a team of doctors.

You can always contact us by phone +7 495 788 03 03. Doctors will arrive at the scene of the incident as quickly as possible, provide immediate assistance on the spot and hospitalize the poisoned person in a clinic, where they can carry out examinations and procedures, introduce the body with all the necessary drugs and help a person affected by low-quality alcohol to recover as soon as possible.

Anyone can experience body poisoning caused by drinking low-quality alcoholic beverages. You don't have to be an experienced alcoholic to do this. But more often, this problem concerns those who abuse the drinking of such products, and thereby expose their body to serious risk. In fact, alcohol poisoning is one of the most serious types of intoxication of the body, which is accompanied by significant deterioration and severity of the condition.

Signs of alcohol poisoning appear in the gastric and intestinal tract, nervous, vascular and cardiac systems. Moreover, the symptoms of this condition will depend on the degree of intoxication itself, on the duration of drinking alcoholic beverages and on the general state of health of the person.

Stages of poisoning

Poisoning with low-quality alcohol usually occurs in three stages. They differ among themselves in the severity of disorders occurring on the part of the body. And most often these degrees have certain symptoms and signs:

Intoxication. The initial stage in which a person’s condition is accompanied by changes occurring in the mental system. They are temporary. This may be euphoria, incoherent and incomprehensible speech, distracted and unstable attention, slowing down of thought processes.

Our regular reader shared an effective method that saved her husband from ALCOHOLISM. It seemed that nothing would help, there were several codings, treatment at a dispensary, nothing helped. An effective method recommended by Elena Malysheva helped. EFFECTIVE METHOD

Poisoning. The second stage, when a large amount of alcohol accumulates in the human body. Its breakdown products begin to be deposited in tissues. And this next disorder leads to serious pathological changes in the work and functioning of all internal organs. The liver does not cope well with its cleansing task, the pancreas fails.

Intoxication

Intoxication. The last stage, in which the breakdown products of alcoholic beverages enter into active interaction with the entire internal environment of the body, exerting the most detrimental effect on it. As a result, all the most important organs simply stop working normally, and their tissues and cells gradually die.
In addition to the stages of alcohol poisoning, it is customary to distinguish its degrees.

Degrees of intoxication

The degree of intoxication manifested by alcohol poisoning is of four types. There are:

  1. Light. It does not have any obvious symptoms indicating the onset of poisoning and intoxication of the body. Usually manifested by slightly noticeable changes in the autonomic system. This may include increased sweating and redness of the skin. Decreased psychomotor reactions, which are primarily manifested by weakening of attention.
  2. Average. At this degree of intoxication, disturbances associated with the functioning of the central nervous system already become noticeable. Speech becomes quite incoherent, a person’s behavior is difficult to control, and inappropriate actions may occur on his part. Sometimes they manifest themselves as aggression and even sexual harassment.
  3. Heavy. At this degree, deep damage to the entire nervous system occurs. A person who is poisoned by alcohol and its substitutes may lose consciousness. This condition is often accompanied by involuntary urination and defecation. In some cases, seizures of an epileptic nature are observed.
  4. Coma. If the abuse of surrogate alcohol occurs constantly and the body is systematically exposed to significant intoxication, then, in addition to deep damage to the central nervous system, disorders begin to occur in the respiratory, excretory and cardiovascular systems. At some point a person simply stops responding to external stimuli. And if emergency medical care is not provided, then death is inevitable.

Signs of alcohol poisoning

In order to react in time to such a serious problem and recognize alcohol poisoning, you need to know the symptoms that manifest this condition in the first place. You need to understand that under the influence of alcohol, the activity of absolutely all internal organs is damaged. And this is manifested by peculiar signs indicating what kind of violations occur in the human body. So, if the intestinal and gastric tract is affected, then the main symptoms are:

  • loose stools for more than one day;
  • severe abdominal pain;
  • an approaching feeling of nausea;
  • vomit.

Typically, diarrhea, an hour and a half after drinking poisonous alcohol, is caused by impaired absorption of beneficial minerals, saturated fats and water. Then pain appears in the lower abdomen, since alcohol esters directly affect the walls of the small intestine and stomach, irritating them.

When alcohol has a negative effect on the nervous system, it is manifested by the following symptoms:

And the impact of such signs has a negative impact on the nervous tissue. Oxygen starvation of cells is provoked and their basal metabolism is disrupted. At this moment, the situation of the general condition of the body is aggravated by the breakdown products of alcoholic products. As a result, the cardiac and vascular systems begin to suffer greatly.

Acute alcohol poisoning

In case of acute poisoning of the body with alcohol, the following symptoms begin to appear:

  • redness of some areas of the face;
  • increased heart rate;
  • pale skin;
  • frequent dizziness during the day;
  • general weakness and low blood pressure;
  • malaise, lethargy and apathy.

Such signs occur against the background of severe dehydration. Cells experience a lack of fluid, starting to receive it from the blood. As a result, the internal system becomes necessary to compensate for such a loss, and it narrows the vessels that supply blood to important organs. And this subsequently leads to disruption of their functions. The situation is getting worse; alcohol poisoning also has a negative impact on the respiratory system. And then the negative impact of intoxication results in such side effects as rapid and noisy breathing. It becomes difficult for a person to breathe. Rattles are heard in the chest. Acute respiratory failure occurs. This happens due to the fact that the respiratory center is affected by alcohol poisoning and metabolic processes in it are disrupted, leading to the development of cerebral edema.

Acute ethanol intoxication provokes serious poisoning of the liver and kidneys. And this condition can be recognized through the following symptoms:

  • a person urinates more often, and he can run to the toilet every hour, and the amount of fluid consumed does not change significantly;
  • in the evenings I suffer from severe pain in the right hypochondrium;
  • the skin may turn yellow, the same happens to the whites of the eyes;
  • the process of urine formation is disrupted, which at some point may simply stop functioning.

Such changes occur in the body due to the fact that the production of a hormone that previously retained water decreases. As a result, the kidney cells begin to suffer, and liver poisoning with alcohol leads to the fact that this important organ weakens its properties and no longer acts as a natural filter that helps fight toxins and poisons. But these harmful substances are ingested in large quantities during the consumption of alcohol substitutes. And if you do not pay attention in time to the changes occurring in your own health, then you will then have to deal with serious complications that will need to be treated for a long time.

Complications after alcohol poisoning

With prolonged exposure to poor quality alcoholic drinks on the human body, many diseases develop. They affect the central nervous and respiratory systems, organs of the stomach and intestines. And such poisoning with alcohol surrogates is manifested by the following ailments:

  • development of acute renal failure;
  • pancreatitis and hepatitis of a toxic nature;
  • acute course of liver failure;
  • the occurrence of delirium tremens.

It is very difficult to come to your senses after being seriously poisoned by alcohol. It will take more than one day to treat and restore the body. To do this, you will need to completely stop drinking not only low-quality products, but also any alcohol in principle. And the treatment process will need to be approached comprehensively.

Treatment for alcohol poisoning

The first thing that needs to be done when it comes to alcohol poisoning is to restore a person’s normal well-being and improve the functioning of his main organs. And for this you will need to carry out a number of numerous therapeutic measures.

First you need to see a specialist so that he can determine the degree of damage to the body due to poor quality alcoholic products. Then therapy is prescribed, which includes several stages. As for the use of traditional medicine, this technique can help in cases of mild poisoning. When the surrogates have not yet seriously damaged the structure of the internal organs. But in case of severe intoxication, only hospital treatment based on the following steps will help:

Detoxification. First, the cause of the poisoning that occurred is eliminated. Gastric lavage is performed. It is necessary to remove low-quality ethanol toxins from the body, for which an intravenous drip with saline and glucose is used. In addition, sorbents are used to cleanse the internal system of accumulated poisons.

Infusion therapy. Helps eliminate unpleasant symptoms of poisoning. Restores the acid-base balance and cleanses the blood of pollutants. For this, an intravenous drip with polyionic solutions or using sodium bicarbonate is also used. After this, the patient is prescribed the drug Metadoxil. It neutralizes the effect of ethanol that enters the body during consumption of alcoholic beverages. This medication may be given through a vein or through a muscle injection. Additionally, the use of glucose and vitamins is prescribed.

Symptomatic therapy. Helps restore normal functioning of internal organs whose cells and tissues have been damaged by alcohol. For this purpose, analeptics and cardiotropic drugs are used.
